‘BHUBAN MAJHI’ HITS CINEMAS FRIDAY
‘Bhuban Majhi’, a full-length feature film based on the Liberation War of Bangladesh, is set to hit about 15 cinema halls across the country on Friday, including Star Cineplex, Shyamoli and Madhumita Cinema Hall in the capital. The film is directed by independent filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan.
The film stars Bangladesh’s Aparna Ghosh and Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee in the lead roles. The other notable casts of the film include Mamunur Rashid, Sushuma Sarker, Nowshaba, Maznun Mizan and singer Waqeel.
The premiere show of the film was held on Wednesday evening in the capital’s Star Cineplex. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, author-writer Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, film directors Nasir Uddin Yusuf and Morshedul Islam, singer Kalikaprasad along with the film’s cast and crew, including Aparna and Parambrata attended the premiere show.
Parambrata Chatterjee expressed his feelings at a programme ahead of the premiere show, “It’s a matter of good fortune for me that I got the opportunity of playing the lead role of the film based on Bangladesh’s Liberation War. Though the film has been made based on war, but the story of the film tells about a person’s liberty.”
Asaduzzaman Noor in his speech said, “I don’t know how the audience will take the film ‘Bhuban Majhi’! I hope it will be a good film, because the film has been made based on the life of a true freedom fighter.”
I want to add one thing that the release of government-grant films has always been delayed. In this case, ‘Bhuban Majhi’ sees its release soon. This is good news for us.
“Till now, many films have been made on the World War. I think it needs to make more films about the great Liberation War of Bangladesh”, he added.
Fakhrul Arefeen Khan’s ‘Bhuban Majhi’, based on the life of a true freedom fighter, depicts a number of historical incidents like the horror night’s scenes of March 25, the East Pakistan Rifles (EPR) rebellion in 1971 and many more.
